Uh, no he's not.
'smbmount //tsd/c /net/windows'
allows me on my linux box to access a share off of a machine I have called
tsd. Samba is designed to work both ways. It's a messy protocol, but the
samba people did a good job implementing it.
Just don't expect to get good speed out of it .. it's 100 times worse than
nfs.
