I have this in my ~/.Xmodmap 
keycode 115 = F16

and in my ~/.fvwm2rc.keys
Key F16         A       N       Function GotoWindowName Calendar

I can post more details if it is desired, but the windows button on the
left of my keyboard brings up my calender.  Some of my F-keys also have
default mappings, and in general, control-Fx (where Fx is any F-key)
dynamically binds that F-key to bring that window to the front with focus.
For this reason, I actually find my F-keys, and even my windows key quite
useful.

Remember, the windows keys are just extra keys to map.  Paint over or
scratch off the markings if you like, but they can be useful.
