I bought myself a Realtek which is just a 10Base-T/10Base-2 NE2000
clone (10/20 Mbit [aka 100/200 mbit]).  Even though it claims to be PnP
none of my computers running Linux had any problems detecting it.  It
worked beautifully right away, all I had to do was recompile the
kernel.  I paid $20-$25 for it.

If you can find one of these then go for it.
