1) I'm running rrlogind-2.21, and it works fine except that for
some reason it doesn't log me in when the machine starts up (i.e. it pulls
an ip but doesn't log in; I have to run it myself once and then it works
fine). Any ideas?
2) There is a neat article on Tom's Hardware about making a dual
celeron system. Basically, the PPGA celerons can be SMP'd by putting them
in socket370->slot 1 converter cards (Asus makes one, as does a company
called MSI, they go for about 20 on www.pricewatch.com, iirc) because
intel, instead of diabling SMP capability on the chip anywhere, just
disabled the appropriate connection(s) _in the socket_... Asus and MSI
'neglected' to do this, so by default the PPGAs in the adaptors are SMPd
capable... This wouldn't do me any good with my win98 partition but in
Linux or some other SMp capable OS... mmmmmm. I was thinking ideally
about how much it would cost to get 2 celeron 300a ppga processors, say
128 mb of micron cas2 pc100 sdram, some really good heatsinks for the
celerons, and a good dual slot1 board, and I think you could do all that
for <500. Not bad for a dual 450 mhz screamer. :^)
