Has anyone successfully managed to use a compaq built-in modem (mine is
on a laptop) in linux? I perused 10 of the specific compaq laptop pages
in the laptop how-to and only one mentioned the modem, stating that it
is a winmodem. Although the person who authored the page did not detail
how he discovered this. OTOH it seems true; I can't do even an "AT" in
minicom on any com port. (In windows it's com2 fwiw.) In related news,
does anyone have an extra external collecting dust? Thx.
