Mandrake 5.3 was essentially RH 5.2 + a bunch of updates and KDE
(I liked it; it was quite logically constructed and the install process
went smoothly). Mandrake 6.0 is probaly much the same, being RH 6.0 +
updates. Mandrake merged with a distribution called Berolinux a while
back, and bero's idea was to target the distribution at more recent
intelesque processors (i.e. pentium, pentium mmx, p2, k6, k6-2, etc.) by
compiling as much of the programs as possible with processor-specific
optimizations, which resulted in (iirc) a 10-30% speed increase (it's been
quite a while since I read that article so take it with a grain of salt).
So mandrake 6.0 may be their first distribution to take advantage if this.
(Personally, I think it's a great idea. How many people still use 386's
as their main machines anymore?)
Hope that helps!
