Fips basically takes data in the win98 partition and pushes it all to the
beginning of the partition so that the end of the thing can be used for another
partition. On the redhat cd there is documentation for it in the fipsdoc
directory under the dosutils directory. The fips.doc file should be helpful.
One tip though: BACK UP! The process is about as safe as defragmenting which
I've done several times without backing up. But if something happens in the
middle like a power outage/spike, you could lose everything. If you don't have
access to a full system backup then at least get some free ftp space and upload
your most important stuff. Or you can even email yourself that one important
paper you're working on for school... just be sure not to check your email
until you have repartitioned.
