Check out

   http://glide.xxedgexx.com/3DfxRPMS_vb_glibc.html

where you'll find an X server that supports the Voodoo3 and Banshee
cards.

It's beta, but it's there, and there's even 3d support. I've not
tried it myself, however ...

I love my Voodoo3 3000. But to be fair, it's in my game machine and
therefore rarely runs Linux (I have two boxes dedicated to Linux for
that.)

I got my Voodoo3 for $150 at BestBuy when they first came out. I've
not looked lately, but I'll bet you can do a lot better mail order
than $189. Yup, www.pricewatch.com shows v3 3000's for $120 and up,
and v3 2000's for $84 and up.
