I generally find that Linux users are a more cluefull bunch of computer users, so I'm making this non-Linux-related request to this list. Please reply off-list to minimize traffic. Thank you. :) I purchased a Creative DVD drive several weeks ago. My current job keeps me very busy, but during my off-time I've been trying to get the drive to play movies. It works well as a CDROM, but it absolutely refuses to play movies, because the movie player software always experiences fatal exceptions. I've had a friend of mine who is also a CS major try to help me out, but we're both confused. We've attempted to reinstall the software and hardware many times, and I've recently upgraded the drivers. I've invested lots of time into trying to fix this problem, but unfortunately I really don't have any more time to invest. I'm wondering if there are any local low-cost places which will try to get the player working rather quickly? I've followed the directions in the manual, and I've consulted the Creative on-line knowledgebase, so I'm thinking that this problem is fairly obscure. I've thought about Best Buy, but they've taken up to a week to fix even the simplest of problems. I'm guessing they're extremely busy, and can't work quite as fast. Are there any smaller shops that can get the job done more quickly? (I realize that it isn't possible to give an exact amount of time, but I'm hoping that smaller places will be able to spend more time on the problem.) I'm sure I could look in the phonebook, but I wouldn't have any idea about whether or not these places are good or not. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I'm currently living on campus, so something nearby would be a big plus. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Send administrative requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
