I'm having trouble getting a 100mb 8 port Asante FH100TX8 hub to work
with my machines. I've outgrown my 4 port dlink hub which works with no
problems with all my cards and os's. With the new hub, my machine with a
dlink via-rhine card and the machine with a 3com 3c515 card both work in
linux with no problems. My other two machines have the dlink tulip cards
in them.
These machines work in windows with the hub *only* if I disconnect the
cable from the hub, then reconnect the cable to the hub. In Linux,
Nothing happens. I can place all four machines in the old 4 port hub and
everything works, then move them to the 8 port hub, and the tulip cards
don't work. I've tried the tulip and de4x5 drivers. Both autosense, and
correctly say 100mb. I've tried all the cables on all the machines with
the same results.
I'm unsure as to what could be wrong. Is this a software problem or
hardware? And if hardware, what? Every port in the 8-port hub works
flawlessly with the two working machines.
