when a machine is up a really long time and has a lot of network traffic,
the packet counters get really large . . . is there anything bad that can
ever come about because of this? do the counters eventually roll or are
they setup somehow so there is reasonable upper limit? is it possible to
zero out the counters?
i couldn't find anything in man ifconfig, netstat or ipchains on how to
zero the packet counters that show under ifconfig . . .
any thoughts? tia!
