I second the other guy, the blackdown 1.2.x betas are as good as
you're going to get for linux right now.  Re: jdbc for PG, I did a quick
yahoo and it looks like a company called OpenLink prvides these.  I don't
know about non-commercial solutions.  (I'm eagerly awaiting a non-beta 1.2
jdk for linux myself.)  Oh, and if you aren't married to java, you can
interface PG and perl fairly well through the DBI.pm and DBD::*.pm series
of perl modules (and I know that there is a python interface as well, see
www.python.org).
