I recently built my first linux box, and have this problem:
I've got two hard drives, a cdrom and a cd writer. The power supply for
the case was one cable short, so I got a splitter for it. The problem
is that one of the hard drives randomly powers down and sometimes
immediately powers back up or stays off for a while, and even sometimes
doesn't turn on when I do a hard reboot. I doubt this is a linux
problem, but any help is appreciated, as well as a pointer to a
newsgroup more suited for this type of problem.

specs: both hard drives are ibm deskstars, both a few years old. got
the case from a friend who got it from chipsmart (maybe the source of
the problem?)
