hmm...
that fb thing is included as (experimental) , its not really guaranteed to
work..
i have g200 too, and it doesnt seem to work that way too, looks like
vga=791 is not recognized by kernel at the beginning so it asks to enter
other VGA mode(i get list of only vga modes, my fb even doesnt try to
work:(( but when i enter it , it boots up as usually in VGA.

i dunno, maybe we set something wrong, i have exectly the same
configuration of the kernel as you do..

but using vga in text mode and normal video card recognition in X doesnt
suck at all so im using that one%)
