Portmap is responsible for mapping ports for all nfs services (rpc.nfsd,
lockd, rpc.mountd) and all nis services. All nfs or nis requests first
query the portmap port so that it can tell the client which port has nfs
and/or nis. The only place you might be using nis and nfs is in a larger
network.
