I have a Riva TNT (the original chipset, not
2/Ultra/whatever). Runs Win* fine, and with the Nvidia drivers and
XFree86 4.0's DRI, I get incredible OpenGL/GLX performance. You can
probably find one for your price range new on pricewatch.com or certainly
used on eBay. (My implementation of the NVidia reference chipset is a
Creative Labs Graphics Blaster, but I think _most_ implementations will
have very little performance variations for any given Nvidia chipset since
most manufacturers stay close to the reference specs.)
        Hope that helps!
        Mike
(I've also had good luck with ATI's products in the past (like an
Xpert 98 ($39 here in town @ microchipcomputers.com), and I've heard many
good thigs said about Matrox's cards.)
