Subject: default shell

If I want a certain user only be able to execute a certain program, should
I make his/her default shell to be that program, or should I write a simple
shell program (like the menushell on students) that calls that program..
I know both are possible...but which one makes more sense...from a security
point of view..

I wrote a simple shell before just so that I can have control over all the
"control character".

the program I want the user to use is "octave", it's a matlab clone..
maybe there are some octave expert here...

I am trying to put a matrix into a row reduce echelon form..on matlab, there
is a rref function...but can't find it on octave..

and also, on matlab, one can use rats to convert to rational, instead of real,
but can't find that function on octave either..

if you know of any solutions to the above question, please let me know..thanks

chen
