Hi, according to Linux Hardware Database
http://lhd.datapower.com/db/dispproduct.php3?DISP?2426
your mobo ABIT SE6 uses a Intel 815e (ICH2) chipset. And for the
built-in sound it says:

Audio
1. AC'97 2-channel Audio CODEC on board

There normally is a sound or mobo driver available for the motherboards
listed there, but the SE6 does not have a Linux driver listed at that
page. I checked http://www.alsa-project.org but I don't see one for your
mobo.

At http://www.4front-tech.com their OSS driver supports these:
Intel 810 ICH (Rev 1
Intel 810 ICH (Rev 2)
Intel 810 ICH (Rev 3)
Intel 810 ICH2 (Rev 1)
Intel 810 ICH2 (Rev 2)

Is the 815e an upgraded version of 810? I dunno if this helps or not.
Thomas, I'm sorry I sent this to you twice. I forgot to email this to
the list.

Ruben
