Looks like we are in the same boat now . . . I was also trying to use the same script that worked fine with the Road Runner cable Internet access. Anyway, I'll give you an update on my situation so far:
- since I'm a "copy and paste" scipter, I decided to go ahead and take my old masq script out of my rc.local and start over. I found that one of the docs that came with roaring penguin gave directions to masqing, so I just followed them. However, in the end I was no better off.
- I have been able to ping all my local cards (192.168.0.x), but I can never ping the card connecting to DSL.
- I have noticed that often my eth0's (DSL NIC) IP and ppp0's IP are different. Ifconfiging these to the same IP doesn't change anything though . . .
- I have been making sure my MTU's are set-up right, but I'm pretty sure that this irrelevant.
Hope you've had better luck . . .

Hi again,
Who was it who suggested roaringpenguin to me, and said they were having
masq problems? I'm now having the same problem. My firewall script
(which sets up the ipchains rules) that worked perfectly with my cable
modem and DHCP now totally hosebags my connection. I've gone over the
script a dozen times trying to figure out why anything would be different
for the dsl connection vs the cable modem connection, but can't figure it
out....?
thanks,
brax.
