Hey guys,

Thanks for the tip on seul.org.

There is an organization, "Computers for Kids" here in austin which
apparently takes donated hardware and tries to find non-profits and
schools to give it to. I beleive it was started by former Texas
Attorney General Jim Mattox, but I am not sure if he is still
involved with it. While under Mattox, their number was 478-2900,
but now it is 294-1158, and the person to contact seems to be
"Putty" M.P. Collins.

I contacted him with my idea (to find a poor Austin area K-12
school and set up a small linux lab for free), and he said the idea
sounds worthwhile, and to write up a proposal after I have found a
school willing to cooperate, then he would discuss things further.

For AISD, it appears as though the Instructional Technology Center
might be a good place to start
(http://www.austin.isd.tenet.edu/technology/instructionaltech/index.phtml).

I emailed their secretary about who I should send a proposal to,
and am eagerly awaiting a response.

I'll post updates to this list as my project pans out. If
everything goes according to plan, I'll set up a "how-to" oriented
website documenting my experiences.
