thats what I never understood.. why all these other terms with no functional advantages, I understand getting multi-language ones, but the others.. whats the big hoopla.. different things for everyone I suppose I want a terminal emulator that functions properly. You'd think all of them would but as it turns out.. terminal emulation is a HUGE mess... look at Dan Brown's post for how the mess rears its head on the user's side, and investigate the code for the programmers side of the mess (you've never seen hideous till you've done this. After communicating with the xterm development people, I have come to the conclusion they are some of very few people who really understand the mess we have.
My point in posting such a silly message originally was not to start a religious war. Unfortunately if you say anything to the effect, this piece of software does this right more often than other software, people who use programs get ridiculous about it (see this message for example) I will continue to cheer on our lesser appreciated friend, xterm, not for its asthetic features but for doing the terminal part of the job flawlessly. Now its on to post something useful to this thread. -Omar On Wed, Mar 05, 2003 at 02:16:51AM -0600, Victor Pelt wrote: > Eterm with transparent background does > > On Tue, 2003-03-04 at 19:19, Omar El-Domeiri wrote: > > nothing beats xterm. > > > > -Omar > > > > On Tue, Mar 04, 2003 at 07:11:34PM -0600, Ricardo Lopez wrote: > > > A random problem just popped up out of nowhere: When I am using vim > > > through Eterm vim acts up.
