ok, so the installed version of libsigrok is too old and you'll have to use the AppImage for the time being. I'm assuming the device /dev/ttyUSB0 isn't accessible.
Does /dev/ttyUSB0 exist? Is it accessible by your user? You can check dmesg to see what device node is created when you plug in the device.
