Hello,

The IRIS Center would like to announce the posting of the fifth module in the
RTI series.
"RTI: Considerations for School Leaders" provides principals with information
about how to implement RTI and about a number of factors that should be addressed when
doing so. In this module, you will meet Mr. Rodney T. Irwin, the principal at Mayflower
Elementary School. After learning about RTI, Mr. Irwin recognizes the possibility of
improving student outcomes in reading at his school and is considering what to do next.
As students work through this module, they will learn about the model Mr. Irwin and the
planning team use for implementing the RTI approach at Mayflower Elementary. As Mr. Irwin
and the planning team progress through the stages of implementing RTI, students will
discover ways to build support for RTI, they will learn about factors that should be
addressed when implementing RTI, and they will learn about the importance of collecting
data and evaluating the effectiveness of the RTI approach.

We would like to invite you to view "RTI: Considerations for School Leaders" at:

The Center would also like to invite you to view the latest module for school counselors,
"School Counselors: Facilitating Transitions for Students With Disabilities from
High School to Post-School Settings." In this module, Mr. Hunter, the school
counselor at Phelan Junior/ Senior High School, works with fourteen-year-old Sandra
Montez to help her develop measurable post-secondary goals for the transition process,
making sure to set goals for education/ training, employment, and independent living.
Through talking with Sandra, reviewing the results of a variety of informal and formal
transition assessments, and collaborating with Sandra's mother, Mr. Hunter is better able
to arrange appropriate transition services and make appropriate referrals that will help
Sandra succeed once she leaves high school.
