RaiMan proposed the following answer:
In the Excel case, the Pattern... is the string CONTENT, but in the
second case it is part of a Python script line.
If I am right, this should do it:
hover(eval(imgN))
where eval treats the given string content as something to evaluate
using the Python interpreter and return the result, which in this case
is a Pattern object.
