This seems to be a more general Maven/Eclipse problem.
asking Google with q=maven+ArtifactDescriptorException on entries of
last 12 month, you get a huge list and most of them deal with Eclipse.

I cannot help you any more, since I do not use Eclipse nor Maven
currently.
