very ambitious for a beginner ;-)
I made a test using the sudoku sample picture from the above link

and usedan optimized screenshot of an empty cell containing part of the left
and top border:

I usually work on Mac and used the Mac image tool, to restrict the screenshot
to the relevant pixels.
With this shot it works perfectly with a score of 0.99+
