Alex Nilsson confirmed that the question is solved:
This: - the content of the system path at script runtime can be verified using
import os; print os.environ["PATH"]
Only returns libs?
..
I've tried on another identical vm, runs fine..Don't know what's with the
machine it's currently on, but nothing I change makes a difference, so I'm
thinking a reinstall will solve the issue..
