RaiMan proposed the following answer:
nothing is wrong: temp images are deleted at script termination.
you have to move themto a place of your choice yourself (will be a
feature in the new version ;-)
import shutil
img = capture(some_region)
shutil.move(img, "absolute-path-of image-name.png")
