On Windows it is recommended to use the runIDE.cmd to start the IDE.

Sometimes it is really hard to stay calm: everything is written down and you 
where asked to READ carefully before starting:
When getting problems you can use the option -d (as stated in the startup 
dialog) to get more info about possible problems.

I think I will implement some check questionnaire using multiple choice to 
check, wether someone who tries to start the IDE really knows, what he is doing.
10 questions and at least 7 have to be answered correctly, otherwise you will 
not be able to start/use the Sikuli stuff.
