Terje Kerlefsen confirmed that the question is solved:
Sorry for the late reply. I got around it in Chrome under Windows by
trying App.focus on each of the Chrome tabs until it returned true.
Then Chrome would have focus and I could use image reckognition on the
tabs to select the tab i wanted. I could not get this to work in Linux
Mint so I ended up always returning to a known Chrome tab before
focusing on something else than Chrome.
