Sorry for the inconveniences.
But I think with latest version 1.1.1 (http://sikulix.com) things should have
become rather convenient at least on Ubuntu.
Just take care to apt-get the prereqs as doc'ed and then run setup.
Since with version 2 SikuliX will be Java-only (with respect to the
implementation code) I expect, that then it will be possible to more
easily setup packages to be used with apt-get or other package managers
on other Linux's.
