Thank you! Using the full'export' line in the terminal worked! It now seems like the extended mouse up/down issue is resolved.

The documented workaround is to run the Sikuli IDE from the command line, however, I receive the error: [error] RunTimeINIT: *** terminating: Java version must be 1.7 or later! I have both Java 9 and Java 8 on my machine. I tried doing the step mentioned here: https://answers.launchpad.net/sikuli/+question/658718: "/usr/libexec/java_home -v 1.8 should switch to Java 8" But unfortunately no success and I get the same error.
