RaiMan proposed the following answer:
instead of
runner = HTMLTestRunner.HTMLTestRunner(....)
use
myrunner = HTMLTestRunner.HTMLTestRunner(....)
There is an internal name clash when using the name runner in this context.
Will be fixed in 2.0.6
