Hi all! My name is Andy White (@arcwhite). I'm only a recent reader - I popped by for a while after OSDC last year, where I heard of Silicon Beach first, and was brought back by some discussions a group of us had at BarCampCanberra2.
My background - until late last year, I was co-Director of a services startup (Looking Glass Solutions) here in the ACT. It was, ehr, a learning experience. We did a lot of good work, but never quite managed to break through to the size we felt we needed to be to really take off - and in the end, stress and burnout got the better of us. C'est la vie. I'm poking my head up now for a few reasons - one, I'm getting back into a headspace where I want to think about some interesting projects again. Two, and this is the big one - there was a lot of desire from people at bcc2 to have some sort of weekly meet-up for entrepreneurs and startups in the ACT, to try and bring everyone out of the woodwork and get some support and discussion happening. I know there's quite a few startups in the ACT and it's fertile ground for such a group.
