I've just been through the process of applying for and getting my E3 visa for the US. For those who don't know, it is a special visa available only to Australians and allows them to work in the US for a period of two years. There are over 10,000 per year available, and I've heard that only 2000 actually get used, so it is pretty much guaranteed if you've got a valid job offer and you have a degree.
I received a bunch of varied advice over time about how to go about it, and decided while it was still fresh to write a how-to guide: http://www.geoffmcqueen.com/2011/09/28/e-3-visa-for-australians-how-to/ Hopefully it will be useful, and feel free to share it around with anyone who's talking about getting to the US. It is completely DIY, and has saved me about $2000 I'm told in lawyer fees. Of course, I'm not a lawyer, and all that stuff. -- Geoff McQueen Founder & CEO Hiive Systems Phone: 1.877.425.7315 (US) - 1800 2 44483 (AU) Cell/Mobile: 650.450.4384 (US) - 0414.678.466 (AU) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Silicon Beach Australia mailing list.
