Hello People, I've been living in london for 4 years and my networks in Sydney are poor. I'm working on a new P2P/ #CollCons startup, www.JobKangaroo.com, which I'm planning to launch in Sydney, seeing I can't get a visa to remain in the UK.
I'm looking to either outsource an MVP, or team up with someone who wants to take up a CTO role. My preference is the latter: to find someone in Sydney (or who might move to Sydney) who is passionate about software engineering- a strong generalist in the mobile social web, spanning PHP, Ruby, MySQL, Java or similar. This then also creates the opportunity to apply to StartMate for the next intake. (and they like marketplaces http://www.startmate.com.au/market ;) A short background: I was a cofounder of a startup in London, YourJobDone.com, a mobile marketplace for getting jobs done fast, driven by SMS. Worked on it for 2 years, got up to 10,000 users, about 300 of them active. For various reasons wound it up last month. You can see what it did here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7f551TbJxg I've no doubt the market is hot (similar businesses in the US, Zaarly and TaskRabbit, entered later and have experienced v.fast growth + have raised USD18m and USD7m). The other aspirants to this market in Aus are early days. I know the sector well. Though an engineer by degree, I've been in bus dev and product for 3 years (both with former startup and consulting). If this sounds like your cup of tea please drop me an email or tweet, and we can tee up a skype chat. I'm stuck in London for a few weeks. If you know someone who'd be interested please forward to them :) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Silicon Beach Australia mailing list.
