What a great story! One of my big regrets is never actually becoming a

John, are you still in touch with anyone in Senegal?

I am not in touch with anyone from my time in Senegal other than some
Peace Corps buddies, with whom I stay in touch by email. We typically
have a reunion once a decade.
I do have some imaginary internet friends in Senegal that I met through
Twitter. I am going to be taking language lessons from one of them (in
Wolof and Pulaar) starting later this spring.
2 days ago I took my wife to see her doctor, whose office is in "Patriot
Place," a little complex right next to Gillete Stadium, where the New
England Patriots play football. The guy who does valet parking there is
from Senegal. He speaks Wolof and Serrer, but no Pulaar, alas.
