MAP Academy on Instagram: "Our next MAP Academy Live, ‘Lords of Earth and Sea: Revisiting the Chola Empire’ with Anirudh Kanisetti (@anirbuddha), will take place on 27th February 2025, Thursday, at 7:00 pm IST via Zoom. Drawing from his extensive research of medieval South India, Anirudh will reflect on the architectural, military and cultural contributions of the Cholas, while also delving into the lives of ordinary people whose fates were intertwined with those of the social elites. His book ‘Lords of Earth and Sea: A History of the Chola Empire’ (Juggernaut Books, 2025) and its accompanying illustrations were made possible through a research grant provided by the MAP Academy. In this session, Anirudh will discuss his collaboration with the MAP Academy, which produced over twenty-two illustrations of medieval temples in the Indian subcontinent and elsewhere. The detailed drawings emerged from his research on these historic structures, and were executed painstakingly by Aurelia Fred
