Yes, I was. And I am still an active member.

The details are on www.alcei.it (unfortunately, only in Italian... I
hope an English translation will be available soon).

The idea is to use this episode to set up some sort of "cause celebre" -
to make a point on wider issues. (We appear to be quite successful in
the first steps, because the news is spreading quickly worldwide).

The point is that what Sony did qualifies as a "criminal" offence under
Italian law. That could lead to an interesting court case.
Unfortunatekly it will take time before it can actually be taken to
court. Technically, the first step is to ask the police to search if and
who can be formaly accused of that offence (which they *must* do when a
suspect case is submitted) - and that is what ALCEI did on November 4,
2005. So the news is that the legal process has started.

The irony of the case is that pressures from industry lobbies (sofwtare,
music and video) have led to weird legislation in Itay that treats
copying as a "criminal" offence. By spreading a virus-like anty-copy
device they become the "criminals" under another (and more reasonable)
law.

Cheers

Giancarlo
