Hi Dave...As my present attempts to listen to bands like Rush are not going any too well...my ear seems to be in too much of a musical groove...I am very appreciative of your attempts to listen to very different music. Suresh's selections are pretty good and you can listen to them. Much of our old film music did have its roots in classical music, and nowadays there are other influences..and apings.

Just keep listening....!

Given the current state of Bollywood Pop/Hindi songs listen out for a
nasal croak which barely passes off as a croon :)
