I have used the 18-70mm lens for about 2 years now and I'm ready to move

Ken Rockwell suggests the 18 - 55mm f/3.5 - 5.6G ED.
If I were you, I would buy the new 18-200 VR lens from Nikon. It's about
$600 bucks and you cover a big range and you have the advantage of VR in
the lens.
That is a good point. I think I will definitely buy that once I have
the cash to spare. I think I will manage the first few months with the
18-55, 28-105 and 50. When I have the cash to spare, I will sell the
28-105 (and maybe even the 18-55) and buy a 18-200 VR and some other
prime lens.
Nikon
does not have any other good medium range tele lenses under $1000. If you
*can* shell out $1500 bucks, go for the 70-200 f/2.8 VR lens. I'll prob
rate it as the best
lens on this planet earth and I swear by it. :)
Yum! 70-200 f/2.8 VR sounds delicious. Probably not going to buy a
lens as expensive as my body.
