Comments, Venky? Biju?
I haven't been in Red Hat for about 3 months now[1] so I can't speak with any real inside knowledge. However, this was pretty much on the cards since the acquisition. Javed is from a traditional Indian business family -- I really can't see him working anywhere where he doesn't have a big stake in the profits. It was more a question of 'when' rather than 'if'. My initial reaction after the acquisition was that Javed would stay for about 3-6 months. However, the internal scuttlebut was saying that he had commited to a year. I guess I was right. :-) In any case, I don't think it makes a great deal of difference to the external face of the company. Javed and the APAC team who will be running things were pretty much in sync when it came to matters of strategy. Venky and Shankarshan will have a better view on all this than I. -- b [1] I work for http://www.spikesource.com now. I'm programming again. Yay!
