In the wake of strategic deals between India & the US on nuclear fuel supply, and the big pitch to join the NSG - this news makes me think if sensible economics have been overlooked with all the hoopla about building strategic ties...
Where are we going with it all ?

Nuke power could face fuel crisis
Jul. 4 - Questions raised about the viability of a new generation of nuclear power plants because of the threat of a long-term uranium ore shortage.
The price of unprocessed uranium has soared 350 percent in the past four years and with 180 new nuclear power reactors proposed or planned globally, analysts say it's set to rise further.
The UK is just one country which is considering massive new investment in nuclear power as a way of combating the global warming caused by carbon emissions from conventional power plants.
Recent signals from UK Prime Minister Tony Blair show he's in favour of more nuclear power.
Reuters Correspondent Chris Burns talked to Blair's former environment minister Michael Meacher, who says, apart from any environmental concerns - the long-term shortage of uranium ore to make nuclear fuel raises serious doubts about the viability of a new generation of nuclear power stations.
