Both, actually. Arguably, I'm increasing my risk somewhat by not
wearing a bike helmet, but I mostly drive through the forest, and look
lively in those rare cases when sharing space with motorists (which
are well-trained here, I wouldn't dream to try this in USia).

Bikes are dangerous everywhere, period. Especially, without integral
helmets -- then they're deadly.
