what a coincidence - i flew out of SFO on saturday too, though it was in the afternoon (to amsterdam). the security lines were very short. KLM/NWA asked me to come 4 hrs in advance instead of the usual 3 - but opened their counters only 3 hrs in advance.

2). The cosmetic and alcoholic beverage duty-free stores were visibly
suffering (staff taken down to one employee in each store to tell

apparently at least one store told a passenger that they would deliver his gel/liquid purchases to the crew - but they didn't do that, nor was it checked in.

5). My number two worry was whether or not they would take away my
lip balm (Hey, its not easy being a girl). TSA has just announced
that lipstick and lip balm are okey dokey now, 24 hours ago I wasn't
sure (so I put them in my pocket...and they were not detected).

i had a solid lip balm which didn't seem to be against the posted rules, and a little bottle of moisturiser which was against the rules but was almost empty so i thought i could risk having it thrown away. neither was detected, nor was a perfume sampler that was hiding in my bag, which i found after passing through security.

i did get dirty looks from fellow passengers while surreptitiously rubbing moisturiser on my hands during the flight :-)

water on flights is pretty much always bottled spring water anyway, not tap water.

best,
rishab
