Related to this, there is a footnote in a famous textbook of Surgery (by Bailey and Love) that tells of a man who had a type of cyst on one testicle called a spermatocele. Such a cyst can feel like a third testicle, and this man apparently sent an application to the Pope asking for permission to marry two wives because he had more than the statutory two testicles.
