Once, at Delhi, because some threads that were part of the binding of
my passport were frayed.

The nice gentlemen at the counter interrogated me for 45 minutes, then
called their supervisor to report that everything was in order except
for the frayed threads, and that I had several valid visas, including
for the US, and lots of immigration stamps. They then let me board the
flight.

I was slightly upset that having an US visa increased my credibility
with my home country security personnel.
