I've pretty much given up trying to fix people's quoting styles,
except for the occasional weak protest. Using Outlook has infected
too many people.
I hit the same point of depression a few years back. Then I found a
new low was possible. Earlier this year a fairly heavy email user (*)
complained that my occasionally replying with inline quotes, rather
than just putting a single block reply at the top, was "clearly
patronising". To which mutual friends mildly agreed. Sigh.
