Or, alternatively: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start

I like to lurk initially on lists, but here goes with an introduction.
I'm a PhD student from RPI (Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute) in Troy,
NY. I'm a student of "Science and Technology Studies" which is also
how I found my way to this list. Chris Kelty whom I've pestered over
the last couple of years, and now pressed into dissertation committee
service said that I should both talk to Udhay and be on this list.

I began my academic life as a computer scientist and mathematician,
started studying computer graphics, that led to 3D scientific
visualization work for JPL, was snatched up by a game company in La
Jolla, worked on 3D sound systems for N64, PS1, PC, Mac, Linux until
it('s clients) went bust, tried graduate school in CS, wasn't happy,
worked for Autodesk, put people out of work with automation tools, got
tired of that, and with the help of a Marxist feminist and a
sociologist found "STS" as a (un)discipline, got in, studied Open
Source Software development for a while, got tired of it, did some
pilot research studying work at a video game company, that company got
bought by Activision, and I decided to study "the game industry" in
the US and India. Simple right?

I'm going to be in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai meeting with game
developers and lurking around game companies from November 13 to
January 12. Bangalore until the end of November. Hyderabad for a
couple of weeks. Chennai the rest of the time.

Cheers.
