They are undoubtedly assembled from Chinese parts - but hey that is exactly what the cottage mobile industry will be like. Chips/boards will be bought in bulk from wherever they are available cheap and the phone assembled with locally made dies for the body and other parts. Go back to the Japanese bicycle industry and you find that the steel was imported. The economic difference was not necessarily related to the import content - but the generation of local skills and employment. Just my thoughts shiv
